Kat: Right, of course.

Mom nods agreeably, and Josh hops up and down.

Josh: No Mom, listen! I've been thinking about it, and me being Spiderman is the only
possibility that makes sense!

Kat: You're not Spiderman, honey. You're hyper and paranoid on energy drinks. You've had a growth spurt, kudus, perfectly normal for a child your age, and kudos to me for anticipating the event and expertly buying you a suit of oversized pajamas for you to grow into. You've been exercising a lot lately, and you've put on some muscles, congratulations on that one too. You should be very proud. You look great. And as for the reason you can see without you're glasses...well that's because you're squinting, honey.

Josh: I am?

Kat: You are.

Josh: I'm...squinting...

Kat: You're squinting.

Josh: I don't feel like I'm squinting.

Kat: Well maybe you should start feeling like it, because you are.

Josh: Oh...well I guess that explains it.

Joshua nods and nods, and keeps on nodding for awhile longer. And as he nodded, he thought on it, and although he thought it was rather strange that he could not remember drinking any energy drinks last night, nor having worn oversized pajamas to bed, nor exercising at all in the last...ever, nor did he feel as if her were currently squinting, despite all of that, when his mom told him something, she tended to be right. A large part of Joshua's identity was wrapped up in accepting the things that his mother told him. After all, she was older, and she knew better. At least that was how she put it, and after all, she generally knew best. On the other hand, Joshua also realized that if his mother was right on this one, it meant that he was completely bonkers.
