1. Oh Nightmare of Nightmares

They say that those closest to the center of an explosion feel no pain, as they are torn into the tiniest of bits and die, and Joshua was almost certainly the very center of this explosion. Still, he found the sensation to be quite painful. He could feel his flesh being torn away from his bones, and his bones splintering into the tiniest of shards and disintegrating, and his eyes melting away into nothing, and his teeth shattering, (I don't even want to talk about how his family jewels felt,) but that wasn't all he could feel. He also felt the simultaneous and identical deaths of so many others. He thought for just an instant on how it was kind of like how Luke Skywalker described feeling when Alderon was destroyed, "like a million voices crying out in unison, then suddenly silenced," only there was no silence, he'd have been grateful if there were, and it wasn't just a million either. It was in the billions, or maybe even the trillions, and it wasn't just people, either. He felt the plants, and the animals, and the insects, and whole planets themselves, across all of the Milky Way, whole planets splintering into nothing, and aliens in far of worlds ceasing to be as well, until there was nothing, absolutely nothing left in the Milky Way or beyond. The universe itself was gone, obliterated.

Obliterated for an instant, and at the end of it that explosion, the greatest explosion that had ever been reeled itself backwards, and bits and pieces of planets materialized into existence, and stuck back together again, and so did the bits and pieces of all the aliens, and the plants, and the animals, and the people, and eventually Joshua himself, as the explosion folded itself away into nothing. He looked around his room everything was intact, including the bed he was sitting upon. It had all been a nightmare he presumed. The worst, he'd ever had. He took a deep breath pulled the covers over his shoulders, and closed his eyes, only for them to shoot open again, as a glowing white beam hopped out of his body, landing in the shape of a person bowing before him.

"The king is dead," said the glowing white person. "Long live the king."
